Rythmike: what are the Clouds worth?

Introduction :

This page contains information about different cloud services: What are they used for? How to use them effectively? Is your data well protected? Here you'll find the main cloud providers, their approximate pricing, capacity, and potential limitations.

The general operation of servers :

The principle is: we send data or files to an online storage service. This storage service keeps this data for us, for a fee, and we retrieve it on demand. This allows us to work on it and save it again.

This, of course, requires an internet connection when sending and receiving this data (images, various files, calendars, etc.). Cloud providers offer an advantage: backup of your valuable files and protection "against hacking" of your personal computer, phone, etc.

Indeed, in case of loss, theft, or crash of your device(s), the cloud keeps everything safe for you! Another advantage is, of course, collaborative work. Documents are shared in the cloud and can then be accessed by your colleagues, with their permission, to work on them independently.

These services sometimes offer remote computing services, a kind of "remote PC rental", more used for work (AI computing remotely), or gaming (then called Cloud Gaming).

But also professional cloud services :

logo-cloud

Professional cloud services are primarily used for database storage, backups, and email. And now (in 2026), AI services. But this is more about remote computing than storing your data..

The three largest cloud providers in the world are AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, which together handle 60% of global traffic. These three services compete in computing, storage, networking, and virtualization. However, there are many other players in this market. It is the very large companies that use these services.

Professional cloud services are compared to each other using almost the same criteria as personal cloud services...

For SMEs and SMIs, the preferred option, which is cheaper and quicker to implement, is the professional offers from internet local, services providers.
